Cocoa Expo Stadium was last used by professional baseball when the Marlins used this as their spring training home for their inaugural season of 1993. Before that, the Astros had also used this ballpark as their spring home before moving to Kissimmee. It last hosted minor league baseball in 1977 when the Cocoa Astros of the Florida State League played here. Cocoa Expo Stadium is now independently owned and operated and is used by amateur teams and camps. Professional baseball was given another shot here in the winter of '09 when the Space Coast Surge of the Florida Winter League arrived, but the league was short-lived, not even making it through one full season. After years of lackluster upkeep, the ballpark received $40 million of renovations in 2012, now making it a desirable training complex for amateur teams. The teal colored seating has all been replaced by red chair back seats. So it appears this ballpark will live on for many more years.
