Beiden Field was originally built for the Fresno State collegiate team, but
doubled as a professional venue from 1998-2001 while the Fresno Grizzlies
were awaiting their new downtown ballpark to be completed. The ballpark is
located on the campus, right next door to the team's football stadium.
While the park was originally constructed in 1966, it underwent significant
renovations in 1983. The main seating bowl is a large concrete structure
featuring all individual fold down seats. In addition, there are two large
bleacher sections. Certainly Beiden Field must have made for an adequate
temporary facility for the Grizzlies. The ballpark is named after the long
time coach of the Fresno State Bulldogs.
