| Watson Stadium was home to the Myrtle Beach franchise of the South Atlantic League for five years, from 1988-1992. During that time, the team was known as the Blue Jays and then the Hurricanes. Located on the campus of Coastal Carolina University, Watson Stadium has undergone some renovations since it hosted pro baseball including new locker rooms and a new scoreboard. When I visited in May of 2007, they were in the process of installing new seats. Pro baseball did return to Myrtle Beach in 1999 when Coastal Federal Field opened. If anyone has any further information on this ballpark, including when it opened, I'd appreciate hearing from you. |
