From what I've heard, Sal Maglie Stadium was torn down sometime during 1999 and was replaced by a brand new park on the same location. Apparently they are attempting to lure an independent league team - most likely a Northern League franchise. During the 1980's Sal Maglie Stadium was the home to a team in the New York - Penn League. And then from 1995-96 it was home to a team in the now defunct North Atlantic League. That the city is building a new park can only be a good thing. The old Sal Maglie was a terrible place to see a game. It seemed like it was built more for football than baseball as the grandstand was straight and did not wrap around the field. Because of this fact, there were very few good seats in the park. As can be seen in the pictures above, the outside facade was rather nice, though. The most unique feature of the park can also be seen in that picture - the swimming pool situated right in front of the park. Sal Maglie Stadium is certainly not a stadium I will miss now that it's gone.
