Goldsby Park is the home of the last professional baseball team to play in Baton Rouge, the River Bats who were part of the Southeastern League from 2002-03. It also hosted pro ball on and off starting from the time it opened in 1956. The ballpark is set in a residential neighborhood away from the downtown and features a nice covered grandstand. While Baton Rouge is a big enough city to have its own minor league team, it probably won't happen again at Goldsby Park, but fortunately it is still well maintained and receives plenty of use from amateur leagues.
