Illinois Field is home to the University of Illinois' baseball team, but for one year it also hosted professional baseball. In 1994, the Great Central League's Champaign-Urbana Bandits called this park home. Since lights weren't installed until 1999, the team must have played all their games during the day - which is probably one of the many reasons that the league wasn't back for a second season. The park also underwent other renovations before the 1999 season, so it's unclear as to what this ballpark actually looked like when the Bandits played here. Even now, Illinois Field is a very basic college ballpark. If anyone attended a Bandits game here in '94, I'd enjoy hearing from them.
