Carson Park is currently home to the Eau Claire Express of the summer collegiate Northwoods League. But it did host professional baseball for two different periods (1937-42, 1946-62) as the Eau Claire Bears and Eau Claire Braves, both of the Northern League, called this place home. Built as part of the WPA projects, Carson Park is a classic minor league ballpark. A covered brick grandstand sits behind home plate and bleacher sections are located down each line. Under the grandstand is a concourse area featuring memorabilia from Eau Claire's baseball history. The park remains in excellent condition and apparently looks much as it did when it first opened in 1937. The most famous player to play here, Hank Aaron, is immortalized with a statue outside the park. It's great to see a classic ballpark that still remains in use and is kept up well.
