Terry Park was once the spring home to several major league teams, most recently the Kansas City Royals. Since the Royals left, the park has fell into somewhat disrepair. Although it still gets heavy use by college teams in the spring, the grandstand was determined to be unsafe in '04 and therefore was shutdown. Later in the year, the county made the decision to tear down the old grandstand and build a new one. So what stands at Terry Park now bears little resemblance to the above pictures. While the new grandstand is covered, it is much smaller and made of metal. It is unfortunate that the county decided not to try to save the classic grandstand. 2006 will mark the centennial anniversary of Terry Park - at least the playing field portion of it.
