QU Stadium last hosted professional baseball in 1973, when a Cubs affiliate played here as a member of the Midwest League. Today, this ballpark still gets plenty of use, both by Quincy University and the Quincy Gems, a college league team in the Central Illinois Collegiate League. The baseball park along with an adjacent football field are set in a residential neighborhood and are enclosed by a large stone wall. It makes for a very attractive and unique exterior. The inside features an uncovered grandstand, which is strange to see at such an old ballpark. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get inside to snap any close-ups of the grandstand. QU Stadium will probably never host pro baseball again, but it should continue to host amateur ball for years to come.
