| Ned Skeldon Stadium is a converted race track located on the county fairgrounds in Maumee, a suburb of Toledo. Despite it not being originally built for baseball, it is still a fine place to see a game. There is not a lot of foul territory, making the seats quite close to the field. A large roof covers much of the seating area. There is very little seating directly behind home plate as the large structure housing the press box and luxury suite area takes up much of the space. My only complaint with the seating was that many of the good seats have their sightlines obscured by a chain link fence that runs down both lines until the dugouts. So if you don't sit high enough, you'll always be looking at the batter through this fence. The roomy concourse area is located underneath the grandstand and out of view of the playing field. The selections are somewhat limited at the concession stands, though the prices are affordable. There is also a restaurant/bar along the third base concourse. A nice, spacious souvenir store is also located along the third base side. Because of its location on a fairgrounds, the backdrop is nothing special - it overlooks other playing fields. The atmosphere here is great - they do between inning contests and lucky numbers, but keep the sound effects to a minimum. Their mascot, Muddy, is one of the craziest I've seen. He was extremely active and seemed to encourage kids to watch the games instead of him. The Mudhens moved into a new downtown park in 2002 meaning Ned Skeldon Stadium has seen its last days of hosting minor league baseball.
