While in Wytheville, I was looking for Withers Field which I knew was the home to an Appalachian League team as late as 1989. Well I found part of it - apparently the park (or at least the field) was demolished in 1993. Withers Field has been turned into Withers Park - a community park with a walking track and memorials. The grandstand (or at least a piece of it) still remains. It has been turned into the town recycling center. A monument marks where home plate was. Having never seen any pictures of this park, I'm not sure if there was more to the grandstand or not. If anyone has any pictures of this park, I'd enjoy seeing them.
