Fleming Field was home to one of the worst professional teams ever, the Yonkers Hoot Owls of the 1995 Northeast League. They finished with a dreadful 12-52 record and did not return to the league for a second season. While the team probably had little talent, their home park probably didn't help much either. From other photos I've seen, the park pretty much looked the same in 1995 as it does today. Which means it had no business hosting professional baseball. The infield was all dirt and there was no real dugouts. As could be expected, attendance was dreadful as well, despite being in a populated area. Yonkers has been trying for the last decade to get a new ballpark built for the Atlantic League, but you have to wonder if their first experience with independent baseball has poisoned the area. I never saw a game at Fleming Field, but sure wish that I had !
