American Legion Field is another great example of a sub-standard ballpark that was used for professional baseball in the 1980's. From 1981-86, it hosted the Florence Blue Jays of the South Atlantic League. Then after a nearly decade long break, an independent team (the Florence Flame) played here for one season in 1995. Since then, only amateur ball has been played here, most notably a team in the Coastal Plain League called American Legion Field home from 1998-2011. While I list the park as opening in 1981, it likely was built before then, though have been unable to find a more accurate date. Unfortunately, I was unable to get inside when I visited in 2015.
