T.R Hughes Ballpark (now known as CarShield Field), located in a sprawling suburb of St. Louis, was one of the first new ballparks built for the independent Frontier League. It resembles GMC Stadium in nearby Sauget, Illinois quite a bit. The biggest difference is the lack of true luxury boxes here, though they do have some "suites" down the left field line that are housed in white tents. The concourse, which is open and overlooks the field, wraps around to left center field, but unfortunately does not circle the entire park. The seats are all of the green fold down variety except for the metal bleachers behind the left field field fence. There is also a grassy berm in left field where fans can sit. The sightlines are good here as all the seats are quite close to the field, giving the park a very intimate feel. A hand operated scoreboard is located in the middle of a bank of ads in right field, though the line score can be hard to decipher after dark. Picnic areas are located down both lines and offer a nice view of the field, something that is not always the case. Concessions are well varied, though a bit on the pricey side. They did offer a $9 all-you-can-eat buffet the night I went, but not sure if this is something available every night. The concession stands offer brats, pizza, burger, BBQ, and kettle korn besides the normal fare. The quality of the food I sampled was quite good. The Rascals always tried to promote themselves as a "throw back" team as they wore very simple and classic uniforms. But this seems to have changes in the past couple of years with new ownership in. The atmosphere, while laid back, does not have an old time feel at all. There are several contests (balloon toss, race the mascot, dizzy taquito) done between innings and the team even has one of those unnecessary on field DJ's. And of course the team has the obligatory mascot, Ruffy. A large team store is located off the concourse behind home plate. T.R. Hughes Ballpark is also home to the St. Charles County Amateur Sports Hall of Fame. It is located in a building along the first base side and is free to ticketholders. Overall, there isn't a lot that makes this ballpark stand out from numerous others. It's clean, comfortable, and relaxing, but rather unmemorable. After the 2019 season, the Rascals folded and O'Fallon was left without a professional team.
