| Goerge Dobson Field got its first shot at hosting professional baseball when the Gunslingers of the Continental League arrived in 2008. The ballpark had previously being used only for amateur competition, most notably the Texarkana College baseball team. It is rather basic in nature with essentially just some metal bleachers setup around the field. For the Continental League it was fine, but for any higher level of baseball it would probably not be suitable. At least the fans seem to have taken to the Gunslingers as they became the best draw in the league in 2008. But the success did not last as the Gunslingers folder after the 2009 season.
