Lanphier Field is now vacant after hosting teams in the Frontier League and Midwest League team for many years. The Springfield Capitals moved to Rockford, Illinois following the 2001 season. The grandstand is all metal featuring just a small roof over the last 10 rows behind home plate. Train tracks run behind the outfield fence which means that trains rumble by during the games. A small concourse is located underneath and behind the grandstand. At this point it's really not suitable for anything higher than an independent league, though it's doubtful it will ever host professional baseball again of any level.
