It hardly seems possible that MacKenzie Stadium could have hosted Double-A baseball in the early 80's. This park would not be suitable for any level of minor league ball now. Because of its setting right next to a high school, the seating is a bit strange. There are no seats directly behind home plate. The first base line contains the majority of the seating with some also being located down the third base line. All seating is backless benches, however. The view over the outfield fence is rather unique, though, as numerous houses fill the landscape. The Pittsfield Mets played a yearly game here for a few years in the mid 90's, but certainly this park will never see anything more this. Starting in 2004, the Holyoke Giants of the New England Collegiate League began playing their home games here, but the team lasted just four years here before moving to Fraser Field in Lynn. Fortunately, a new team in the NECBL, the Blue Sox, took over playing here in '08. MacKenzie Stadium is just a great example of how far minor league baseball has come in the last 20 years.
