Paterson Field last hosted professional baseball when the Montgomery Wings played here in from 2001-03. In '01 they were part of the All American Association and when that league folded, the Southeastern League picked them up for the '02 and '03 seasons. The Wings folder after 2003 with the arrival of an affiliated team in a new waterfront ballpark. The majority of the seating at Paterson Field is metal benches with just a few rows of box seats. A large roof covers the three sections directly behind home plate. The fully covered concourse is situated below the seating and provides no view of the playing field. Its location is in downtown Montgomery, but unfortunately there is no view of the city while sitting in the park. Paterson Field continues to be used by amateur teams even after the new ballpark opened in 2004.
