Scaggs Field was know as The Railyard when it hosted professional baseball from 1996-97. The Meridian Brakemen of the short lived Big South League called this park home. The league folded after the 1997 season. I'm not sure what the park looked like when the Brakemen used it, but it's likely it looked much like it does now. Scaggs Field is located on the campus of Meridian Community College and is comprised solely of wooden bleachers. Certainly good enough for a JUCO team, this park is an example of the low standards set by the early independent leagues. If anyone has any information about this park when it was used for pro baseball, I'd love to have it.
