Sulphur Dell was the home to professional baseball in Nashville until 1963. In 1969 the ballpark was demolished. It was located just north of the state capitol along the Cumberland River. The historical marker above is placed at the site on 4th Ave North. After the site sat vacant for many years (it was used as a parking lot), the new ballpark for the Nashville Sounds opened here in 2015.
