| Tucked away in suburban Detroit, Hamtramck Stadium is a living monument to sports history as one of just 12 surviving ballparks in the United States to have hosted Negro League baseball. Opened in 1930 as the home diamond for the Detroit Stars and later the Detroit Wolves, the park witnessed many giants of the era like Turkey Stearnes, Satchel Paige, and Josh Gibson. Rescued from decades of severe decay through a determined community rehabilitation effort in 2022, its preserved grandstand and revitalized field now stand as both a vital community space and a tangible link to Black baseball heritage.
