E.J. Block Athletic Field was last used professionally in 1995 by the East Chicago Conquistadors of the independent Mid-America League. The league and the Conquistadors only lasted one season. I have no knowledge of the history of this park, so am not sure if it ever hosted pro ball before '95. The park, while maybe not a classic, is a neat old park. It features a covered grandstand which is comprised completely of backless benches. An $8 million renovation of the ballpark was completed in 2024 and will be home to a collegiate league team starting in 2025.
