Ainsworth Field has played host to many different professional teams over the years, most of them nicknamed the Sailors. The last of them played in the indepedent Frontier League in 1994. This was the last year before UPMC Park opened. Nestled in a residential section and adjacent to the Roosevelt School Ainsworth Field is a classic minor league ballpark with a covered grandstand. Apparently it still receives quite a bit of use from amateur teams and appears to be in great shape. Unfortunately, I was unable to get inside during my visit.
