War Memorial Stadium was home to many professional baseball teams including the Penisula Pilots up until the early 1990's. While it will never see pro ball again, it is still getting use in the Coastal Plain League - a summer collegiate league. The park features a wooden grandstand with almost all the seating covered. Except for the boxes which have folding chairs, all the seats are wooden benches with no backs. Its setting is residential and is almost completely surrounded by trees. Still, it's a charming little ballpark, and a great reminder of what the minor leagues used to be.
