Dietz Memorial Stadium played host to a professional baseball team in the late 1940's in the Colonial League. An artificial turf football field now sits where baseball once was played. But apparently the current grandstand dates back to the time when baseball was played here. It was originally built as a football stadium, so the configuration for baseball was probably not ideal. The grandstand shown above was situated on the first base side of the field and there were no permanent outfield fences. A grass incline (which can still be seen) marked the edge of the playing field. Unfortunately, there is no historical marker here to indicate that professional baseball was ever played on this site.
