Payne Park served as a spring training home for several major league teams from 1928 until 1988 when Ed Smith Stadium opened. Now the former site has tennis courts and running trails located on it. There are no remnants of the old park, but the above monument was erected, presumably where home plate was located. An historical marker was also placed here sometime after 2007 when I last visited.
